Dr. Carole Neuman
Carole Neuman, MD, a board certified Obstetrician and Gynecologist, has been practicing in the Jacksonville area for many years. Born in Illinois, she graduated summa cum laude from Illinois Wesleyan University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Biology. She received her medical degree from Emory University School of Medicine and completed her residency in Jacksonville at what is now University of Florida. She was previously an Assistant Professor at Edward Via College of Osteopathic Medicine, Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology and is currently a Sub-Specialty Faculty member of the Orange Park Medical Center Residency Program. She is actively involved in training advanced surgical skills to Ob-Gyn residents of the University of Florida, Jacksonville branch.
She was the recipient of the Press-Ganey award by Memorial Hospital Center of Jacksonville for being the highest-ranking physician in patient satisfaction. She was a principal investigator for the Jacksonville Center for Clinical Research, and has written several articles published in medical journals. Her paper on vulvar and vaginal hematomas stands as the definitive research on that topic.
Giving Back to the Community
In 2008, Dr. Neuman founded Neuman ObGyn, an obstetric clinic for underprivileged women of the Jacksonville area. “The great recession started the year my clinic opened. At the time, there were so many who lost their jobs and health insurance, so our mission was to provide patient education for pregnant mothers and to provide a continuity of care experience in a comfortable private setting.”
Dr. Neuman’s staff of midwives were devoted to their mission, and with the help of Memorial OB Hospitalist group, delivered over 4500 babies over those 10 years. Her patients were very appreciative of their care.
Because of increased difficulty with collecting from government payers and regulations delaying credentialing of new midwives, the financial demands of the clinic became overwhelming. Dr. Neuman’s OB clinic was subsidized by her private Gynecology practice in 2018. Even when there was no compensation, Dr. Neuman was delighted that she was able to help the community and provide employment to her more than 20 employees during the difficult decade of the recession.
